Analysing Metrics to Continually Improve Business

We at Afrisoft know the importance of data in business processes. But we often find that organisations don’t know how to take full advantage of the data they have available and miss out on its potential value.

The key to success is knowing what metrics to measure and how to use them to create improvements in organisational processes.

To offer a solution to our clients, Afrisoft works with operational analysis and processes expert Grant Wise. Grant works directly with our clients, assisting them to identify, utilise and analyse key metrics captured by TransLution. By efficiently analysing their data, clients are able to make continual improvements to systems, processes and workflows and maximise their investment.

In the coming months, Grant will be talking about metrics, data and analysis and how to efficiently utilise them to make improvements to your organisation. His first article looks at what metrics are and why they are important.

Please contact Grant if you would like to discuss how you can use your data to better streamline your processes. Email him on

Microsoft end of life for support for Windows CE and Windows Embedded Handheld

Microsoft will soon reach its end of life for support for the Windows CE and Windows Embedded Handheld. Beginning in 2018 through 2020, Microsoft will phase out their support of various Windows Embedded Operating Systems.

Since most rugged devices are currently running these systems, it is a good time to begin to plan to move to other operating systems as you start to replace your older handhelds.

If you’re running a Windows CE or Windows Embedded Handheld today, these are the dates to be aware of:

  • June 10, 2018 – Windows Embedded CE 6.0 will be End of Life
  • June 9, 2019 –  Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld will be End of Life
  • January 14, 2020 – Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 will be End of Life

While 2020 seems far off, an upgrade strategy will help you to avoid problems in your operations as you change over.

Many suppliers of industrial scanners are starting a move towards shipping their devices with Android. In order to help our clients manage these changes we have recently released TransLution running on Android. In addition, we will continue to support our current Windows CE versions of EazyScan for as long as we are able to do so.

If you would like to request a demo of TransLution on Android, please contact us.

MONN Carpets uses TransLution™ for to manage inventory

MONN Carpets, a leading manufacturer of premium-quality carpets, uses TransLution™ as an inventory management tool. Users print stock labels displaying the stock code, description, lot number, receiving order, and a unique barcode.

Upon receiving stock, the labels are applied and scanned to transfer stock into a location. These labels are also scanned to transfer stock from one location to another and when dispatching stock. All stock movements are tracked and logged and the quantities of the stock in the different bin locations are updated.

The user has the functionality to view the quantities in each bin in the form of a TransLution EazyQueryreport. The user may filter the report by bin location, stock code, lot number or receiving order.

What makes MONN Carpets unusual is that there is no integration to an ERP system. This means that stock on hand data and transaction history information is stored in TransLution and reports can be drawn using TransLution EazyQuery. Master data about customers, suppliers and products is also maintained in TransLution.

MONN Carpets is a leading manufacturer of premium-quality, bespoke, woven Axminster carpets for hospitality applications, in addition to its range of luxury Wilton carpets and innovative ranges of commercial carpet tiles.

TransLution™ software was developed to assist manufacturing, warehousing and distribution companies to better manage their business processes and stock handling. The TransLution™ product is particularly focussed on robust integration to customers’ existing ERP, accounting and stock management software for a wide range of transactions. TransLution™ is distributed in Africa by Afrisoft Africa (Pty) Ltd and in Europe by K3 SYSPRO.
